What are Obesogens?

Obesity is at an all time high in America. New research over the last 12 years shows that obesogens are a Obesogenscontributing factor.

The term obeseogens was coined in 2006. The first initial studies were on children and how exposure to specific chemicals disrupted their metabolism to increase their susceptibility to weight gain.

Over 80,000 chemicals are officially registered for use in the United States. And while some chemicals are toxic, and restricted in their use, there are many chemicals that disrupt your endocrine system. And are linked to a variety of diseases.

Plus they’re commonly used in many commercial products. Below is an anecdotal example:

“Rebecca is a 5 yr old girl who has gained 20 lbs in one year and is referred to us for premature breast development. An MRI of her head rules out a brain tumor. A pituitary evaluation to look for onset of puberty is unrevealing and tests show no estrogen in the blood. A more detailed history reveals Rebecca’s mother has recently taken to bathing her daughter in Victoria Secret’s bath gel. The assumption is that the bath gel contains plant estrogen. The mother is counseled to stop the bath gel and subsequently Rebecca’s weight gain and breast development cease.”

According to The Journal of Pain, 31 percent of adult Americans have chronic pain. Foods That Trigger Pain

Well according to a 2017 study found in PubMed almost 25% of those who were diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis found that their diet impacted the severity of their pain symptoms.

My guesses weren’t even close. What the article was referring to was the – (dash) in between dates. Especially the dash in between your birth date and your eventual death date.

Over the Christmas Holidays the author of the article was visiting the graves of her parents. And as she was paying her respect she noticed for the first time that every headstone had a dash in between their birthday and their day of dying.

For most the first date is a date of joy.

And for most the second date is a day of tears.

But the real significant part was the dash in between these two dates for it represented how they spent their life living out the time they had on Earth.

Nutritional Value of Halloween Candy

Halloween is quickly approaching and treats are a part of this annual tradition. So I was wondering what isNutritional Value of Halloween Candy the nutritional value of Halloween Candy.

If you have kids, then you’re in the process of beginning to prepare their costumes. My children are grown up but they have kids. My grandson is going as Spider-Man. My granddaughter is going as Ariel. Most of their outfits are ready. And if the weather is good they’ll be spending a lot of time going from door to door collecting Halloween Candy.

Now unless you have a neighbor that is buying the large candy bars, almost all of the Halloween candy is packaged in “bite-sized” wrappers. And most likely the homes you’re stopping at aren’t giving you “Nutrition Fact Sheets” for the candy they’re dolling out.

How to Stop Muscle Cramps at Night

For the past month I’ve been experiencing muscle cramps at night. Always in my calf muscles. And to the Muscle Cramps at Nightpoint where some nights I wake up several times. Usually having to get out of bed to stretch and try to relax my calf muscle so that I can go back to bed.

Because of this I decided to research this area of muscle cramps at night and found that I’m not alone.

Most people experience an occasional muscle cramp. But as we age they become more common. It’s estimated that for people over the age of 60 (I’m 64) one out of three people experience muscle cramps at night. And if your over the age of 80 then the number of people experiencing muscle cramps at night increases to 50 percent.
