2 natural ways to lower your A1C

In today’s post we’re going to examine 2 natural ways to lower your A1C. These two ways are not normally discussed by the medical community. In fact, I just read an article from WebMD titled “9 Tips to Lower Your A1c Level” and neither of these two natural ways were discussed.

Yet, these 2 ways can be an extremely effective method to improve glucose metabolism to lower your A1C.

If you’re interested in the WebMD article, then click here. Plus I provide a link to the following article that actually discusses these 2 natural ways to improve your blood sugar levels.

In 2001 the American Diabetes Association published a study titled “Long-Term Oral l-Arginine Administration Improves Peripheral and Hepatic Insulin Sensitivity in Type 2 Diabetic Patients”

Here is the stated conclusion from the authors of this study,

“l-Arginine treatment significantly improves but does not completely normalize peripheral and hepatic insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetic patients.”

When people hear the term “diabetes” they usually associated it with blood sugar issues. And while this is true, the main problem centers on insulin resistance.

Your body uses insulin to move sugar out of the blood stream into your cells. It is a key component in what is called glucose metabolism, which is your ability to use glucose or blood sugar as an energy source.

This is where L-arginine and nitric oxide can make a significant difference in your A1C levels.

First, nitric oxide helps to normalize glucose metabolism by increasing glucose transport.

Second, nitric oxide facilitates the uptake of glucose into cells.

Third, L-arginine regulates insulin release, which is needed for proper glucose metabolism.

Fourth, both l-arginine and nitric oxide work together to enhance insulin sensitivity for improved glucose metabolism.

To help you understand how critically important these two natural ways are I did the following Google search: Read More →

Nutritional Value of Halloween Candy

Halloween is quickly approaching and treats are a part of this annual tradition. So I was wondering what isNutritional Value of Halloween Candy the nutritional value of Halloween Candy.

If you have kids, then you’re in the process of beginning to prepare their costumes. My children are grown up but they have kids. My grandson is going as Spider-Man. My granddaughter is going as Ariel. Most of their outfits are ready. And if the weather is good they’ll be spending a lot of time going from door to door collecting Halloween Candy.

Now unless you have a neighbor that is buying the large candy bars, almost all of the Halloween candy is packaged in “bite-sized” wrappers. And most likely the homes you’re stopping at aren’t giving you “Nutrition Fact Sheets” for the candy they’re dolling out.

I thought it would be kind of fun (yes I know it’s a geeky type of fun) to know the nutritional value of Halloween candy. This way you can control the amount of sugar you put into your kid’s system. Read More →

In today’s fast pace environment a healthy breakfast is often skipped. Or fast food alternatives are eaten in Healthy Breakfasthopes of getting a healthy breakfast.

Consumer Reports did an excellent article on the importance of a healthy breakfast. You can click here to read their article. I wanted to highlight two items and then give you a suggestion.

Healthy Breakfast – Two Items from Consumer Reports

The first item to note about a health breakfast are the benefits that you can potentially obtain if you do this right. Here are the ones listed by Consumer Reports:

  1. It may protect your heart.

But the second item that I noted in their article is this graph. Here’s a picture of it: Read More →

Understanding the Glycemic Index Chart

Learning how to properly use a Glycemic Index Chart can have several positive benefits for your overallGlycemic Index Chart health and wellness.  Unfortunately, most people have never heard of the Glycemic Index let alone know how to use the information found in the chart.  Before I explain this information let me share a real life story.

When I was growing up my favorite breakfast cereal was Rice Krispies.  I loved the taste and when you poured on the milk they made that neat “Snap, Crackle, Pop” sound.  But one thing I noticed, even as a child, was that within two hours or less I was hungry again.  As a kid I thought it was because of all the air holes in the cereal.  The Glycemic Index hadn’t been developed so there was no chart to tell me that Rice Krispies has an index value of 82.  This value makes it a high glycemic food, which causes your blood sugar to spike followed by a crash and extreme hunger.
