Arteriosclerosis and Atherosclerosis – Treatment Programs!

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 02/22/2017

According to the American Heart Association, arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis account for Atherosclerosisnearly 75% of all deaths from heart disease! To have a significant impact on reducing the number one killer of people worldwide, it would make sense to focus on treatment programs that address these two issues.

As I gathered data for this article many of the websites I looked at made the following comment – “The exact cause of arteriosclerosis is not known.”

This author would like to disagree with this statement.

The exact cause of arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis is known. It’s damage to the endothelial cells that line all of your cardiovascular system, which reduces their ability to properly produce nitric oxide, the master signaling molecule of the cardiovascular system. Nitric oxide is key to cardiovascular health. According to Dr. Louis J. Ignarro, the 1998 Nobel Laureate in Medicine,

“NO – as it is known by chemists – is produced by the body specifically to help keep arteries and veins free of the plaque that causes stroke and to maintain normal blood pressure by relaxing the arteries, thereby regulating the rate of blood flow and preventing coronaries. Nitric oxide is the body’s natural cardiovascular wonder drug.”

If you look closely at Dr. Ignarro’s statement you will notice the following significant phrase: “. . . specifically to help keep arteries and veins free of the plaque that causes stroke. . .” Plaque formation is at the heart of atherosclerosis. Calcification of these plaque formations lead to arteriosclerosis.

Arteriosclerosis and Atherosclerosis – General Overview!

 02/15/2017

There is a lot of confusion between arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis but one thing is certain, combinedArteriosclerosis they account for nearly 75% of all deaths from heart disease!

Here are the sobering facts:

  • 735,000 Americans have heart attacks each year

  • 120,000 Americans die from heart attacks each year

  • 787,00 Americans die each year from all forms of cardiovascular disease

  • 2,150 Americans die each day from cardiovascular disease issues

That’s 1 American dying every 90 seconds!

Most people are familiar with heart attacks or strokes. You likely have a family member or friend who either suffers from the consequences of one or has died due to one. Because of this a great deal of emphasis is placed on preventing heart attacks and strokes. While this is important, the real emphasis should be put upon preventing arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis because they are the underlying cause of heart attacks and strokes.

What Are Lectins and What Do They Do?

Lectins are a group of proteins found in nearly all plants and animals. There are over 100 know types but 12 major lectins that typically cause health issues.

Plants usually have a higher quantity of lectins because they use them as a natural pesticide to protect themselves from being eating by insects. In fact one of the dangers of GMO foods is that lectins have been spliced into their genetic coding to make them more resistant to insects.

While this may help protect crops from insects and reduce the need for pesticides, they increase the risk for stealing your energy and causing you health problems.

Here’s how.

22 Reasons For L-Arginine Supplementation

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 11/01/2016

L-arginine supplementation has become big business in the nutrition industry. What was once reserved forL-arginine Supplementation body builders has now been brought into the mainstream health consumer marketplace.

This increased awareness for L-arginine supplementation started with the 1998 Nobel Prize in Medicine when 3 American researchers were recognized for their discovery of how your endothelium, which lines all of your cardiovascular system, converts the semi-essential amino acid L-Arginine into Nitric Oxide – the master signaling molecule of your entire cardiovascular system.

Since the discovery of this L-Arginine / Nitric Oxide connection there has been a frenzy of interest in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industry. An interest that has spilled over in the general population as Dr. Oz and others have emphasized the need for L-Arginine supplementation for improved cardiovascular health and overall wellness.

Over the next couple of months I’ll be doing a series of posts on The Microbiome. And the reason why is The Microbiomeemerging science is clearly identifying how significant the microbiome is to your overall health and the prevention of disease.

Fat Burning Exercises – Part Two

 09/08/2016

In part one of this series on fat burning exercises we established that the amount of extra calories burned, Fat Burningby adding muscle to your body, is not as great as the internet and TV infomercials would have you believe.

  • anaerobic in design to strengthen and build muscle tissue

  • or a combination of both.

Fat Burning Exercises – Part One

Posted by Dan Hammer //

Fat Burning ExercisesThere is a lot of information about fat burning exercises on the internet.  Unfortunately, most of the information is a bit misleading.  Typically, the information centers on whether you should be doing aerobic exercise to effectively burn your fat stores or whether you should be building muscle tissue to increase your metabolism to burn your extra fat!  The following quote from Adam Zickerman, author of Power of 10:  The Once-a-Week Slow Motion Fitness Revolution provides a good example of this:

“Three extra pounds of lean muscle burns about 10,000 extra calories a month.  (It) burns as many calories as running 25 miles a week, or doing 25 aerobic workouts a month without leaving your couch.”

This information, if accurate, would lead you to believe that all you have to do to lose body fat is put on an extra three pounds of lean muscle.  No need to pound the pavement or treadmill or go to your aerobic class.  Just workout with weights until you have gained those three pounds of muscle and you are set for life!
