Foods That Maximize Nitric Oxide

In today’s post I’m going to help you discover foods that maximize nitric oxide production in your body. In a previous video I shared that there are two primary pathways for the creation of nitric oxide. They are:

The Nitrate Nitrite Pathway

The Endothelial Pathway

Both of these pathways are valid for the creation of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a signaling molecule that is used by your vascular system to improve blood flow. This molecule has three primary benefits:

First is vasodilation, which relaxes the smooth muscles of the blood vessels so that they expand. This improves the deliver of oxygen and nutrients as well as aids in the removal of cellular waste.

This expansion of the blood vessels can be a natural way to lower blood pressure back into the normal range.

Additionally, men cannot have an erection without nitric oxide so sexual health is also dependent on your nitric oxide levels.

Second, nitric oxide keeps blood platelet cells from sticking together, which naturally reduces your risk for strokes and heart attacks.

Third, nitric oxide helps to initiate repair mechanisms to keep the lining of your vascular system healthy and functioning.

(If you would prefer to view this information in a video format, then please click on my YouTube video below:)

Now the ingredients needed for each pathway are different.

Let’s start with the Nitrate Nitrite Pathway. Here you want to choose foods that are high in nitrates.

Nitrates are converted to nitrites in your body. These nitrites are then used for the creation of nitric oxide.

Arugula is a good choice. Of all the types of lettuce, this provides the highest source of nitrates. However, it’s a bit bitter to the taste so many people will opt for spinach.

Now you want fresh spinach, not canned spinach.

Beets are also rich in dietary nitrates.

If you don’t like the taste of beets, then used either a beetroot juice supplement or just plain beetroot powder.

Many processed meats like Ham, Bacon, Hot Dogs, and Deli Meat are high in nitrates. However, when you get your nitrates through processed meats you increase your risk that these types of nitrates can formed harmful nitrite compounds within your body. Read More →

Primary Pathways for Nitric Oxide

In your cardiovascular system there are two primary pathways for the creation of nitric oxide. They are:

  • The Nitrate Nitrite Pathway
  • The Endothelial Pathway

Today we’ll examine each so that you can better understand how to harness the benefits of nitric oxide for improved cardiovascular health.

(If you would prefer to view this information in a video format, then please click on my YouTube video below:)

Both of these pathways are valid for the creation of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a signaling molecule.  It’s used by your vascular system to improve blood flow. This molecule has three primary benefits:

First is vasodilation, which relaxes the smooth muscles of the blood vessels so that they expand. This improves the deliver of oxygen and nutrients.  As well as aids in the removal of cellular waste. And, it can be a natural way to lower blood pressure back into the normal range.

Additionally, men cannot have an erection without nitric oxide so sexual health is also dependent on your nitric oxide levels.

Second, nitric oxide keeps blood platelet cells from sticking together, which naturally reduces your risk for strokes and heart attacks.

Third, nitric oxide helps to initiate repair mechanisms to keep the lining of your vascular system, what is call the endothelium, healthy and functioning.

Now, let me give you an overview of each pathway. Then at the end, I’ll give you my opinion on which pathway can benefit you the most. Read More →

5 Natural Ways to Increase Nitric Oxide

Natural Ways to Increase Nitric Oxide

Today I want to help you understand the top 5 natural ways to increase nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a signaling molecule used throughout your body. A signaling molecule causes something else to occur.

Because of this nitric oxide is critical to your overall health. In fact, you could not live without nitric oxide.

Nitric oxide is used by your immune system, nervous system, and cardiovascular system.

(If you would prefer to view this information in a video format, then please click on my YouTube video below:)

Most of the research around nitric oxide centers on the cardiovascular system. Its primary function is vasodilation. Nitric oxide relaxes the smooth muscles of the blood vessels. This allows them to widen for improved blood flow.

Improved blood flow increases the delivery of oxygen and nutrients while also improving the removal of cellular waste products.

This means that every organ, and health system in your body, can benefit from improved nitric oxide production.

Let me list the 5 natural ways to increase nitric oxide and then we’ll spend some time looking at each:

  • Eat Vegetables High in Nitrates
  • Limit The Use of Mouthwash
  • Use Nitric Oxide Boosting Supplements
  • Increase Your Intake of Antioxidants
  • Increase Your Heart Rate Through Exercise

In your vascular system there are two primary pathways for the creation of nitric oxide. My next video/article will help you understand these pathways. For now they are: Read More →

Improving Brain Function – Part One

Improving Brain Function

As people age one of their concerns is improving brain function. Every study that I’ve ever seen that improves blood flow to the brain improves brain function.

It is one of the reason why I’m a big proponent of Nitric Oxide Therapy.

Helping your body improve its ability to create nitric oxide ends up improving blood flow. Improved blood flow improves the deliver of oxygen and nutrients to the brain. As well as helps to properly remove metabolic waste.

This allows your brain cells to function better.

What is critical to blood flow is the health of your endothelium and its ability to properly produce nitric oxide.

The importance of your endothelium was recently highlight in a 2019 video that I saw from the BrainMind Summit. In this video Dr. George Church of Harvard Medical School made the following statement:

“Here some stem cells are turning into two different kinds of important brain cells. The one that everyone thinks about which is neurons . . . but the one that people tend to forget about is the endothelium, which provides the blood to the neurons. And there is almost exactly 1 capillary per neuron. So you have 86 billion neurons in your brain you have almost 86 billion capillaries. . .”

Capillaries are needed to bring the oxygen and nutrients to the neurons. Capillaries are endothelial tissue.

Thus the health of your endothelial tissue helps determine the health of your capillaries.

And contained in your endothelium are enzymes that convert the amino acid L-arginine to nitric oxide.

Nitric oxide then dilates the blood vessels for improved blood flow.

As I’ve already stated, improved blood flow delivers more oxygen and nutrients, which then nourishes your neurons to improve their performance.

One of the ways for improving brain function is to improve the health of your endothelium and its ability to properly produce nitric oxide. To this end there are five key ingredients. They are: Read More →

NO More Heart Disease Book Review

No More Heart Disease

The book NO More Heart Disease by Nobel Laureate in Medicine Dr. Louis J. Ignarro was key to helping me understand the power and effectiveness of nitric oxide therapy.

Back in 2008 I first came upon this concept of using nitric oxide to improve blood flow.

While my background is exercise physiology, I had never heard of what has become know as “The Miracle Molecule.”

I had been told that nitric oxide would help me improve my workouts and athletic performance. At that time I still played competitive indoor soccer at the age of 55. He was in a men’s over 40 league. And when I consistently used ingredients that would help me optimize my nitric oxide production, what I experienced was greater endurance on the soccer court.

More importantly I didn’t have soreness the next day after a competitive match.

I then got my wife to address her high blood pressure with nitric oxide. Prior to taking ingredients that would help optimize this Miracle Molecule, her blood pressure averaged 160 over 90. Within one week her blood pressure lowered to 112 over 68 and has been at this level ever since.

My experience, and the experience of my wife, prompted me to learn about this remarkable molecule for vascular health.

Enter NO More Heart Disease

The book that was recommended to me (and I recommend it to you) was Dr. Ignarro’s book called NO More Heart Disease. It was originally published in 2005 but I feel it is still the best book written to date to help people understand how significant this molecule is to their health.

In fact, Dr. Ignarro makes no bones about it. He firmly believes nitric oxide is key to your health.

If you look at the cover of his book, then you will see the subtitle, which states: Read More →

Lower Blood Pressure The Number One Key

Posted by Dan Hammer //

Lower Blood Pressure

If you want to reduce your risk for strokes and heart attacks, then you need to lower blood pressure. There is one key to this process. Unfortunately it is seldom shared in any of the articles or videos you find on this topic.

This article with provide you with this key. In fact, this key centers on Nobel Prize winning information.

Now before I introduce this number one key I want to emphasis how it is left out in most discussion about blood pressure.

You can do your own Google search for the keyword phase “Effective ways to lower blood pressure” and you will see a boat load of articles all about this topic.

I’ve taken just two of these articles from two very respected sources. One is the Mayo Clinic and the title to their article is “10 Ways to Control High Blood Pressure Without Medication.” The other article is from Healthline and it’s titled “17 Effective Ways to Lower Your Blood Pressure.”

You can click on the article titles above to link to these lists, but I’ve summarized them below. Not once is the key to addressing your blood pressure listed. I’ll share this key after the summary of their recommendations:

  1. Lose weight if you’re overweight – Both sources agree

  2. Exercise regularly – Both sources agree

  3. Eat a healthy diet – Both sources agree but Healthline adds specific recommendations:

    a. Cut back on sugar and refined carbohydrates

    b. Eat more potassium and less sodium

    c. Eat less processed food

    d. Eat some dark chocolate

    e. Eat garlic or take garlic extract supplements

    f. Eat healthy high-protein foods

  4. Limit the amount of alcohol you drink – Both sources agree

  5. Quit smoking – Both sources agree

  6. Cut back on caffeine – Both sources agree

  7. Reduce your stress – Both sources agree

  8. Monitor your blood pressure at home and see your doctor regularly – Mayo Clinic

  9. Get support – Mayo Clinic

  10. Make sure to get good, restful sleep – Healthline

  11. Take these BP lowering supplements – See Healthline article for their list

  12. Try these medicinal herbs – See Healthline article for their list

  13. Try meditation or yoga – Healthline

  14. Take prescription medications – Healthline

Now in the list above there is not one mention of the number one key to helping you bring your blood pressure back into the normal range. Although dark chocolate can help to produce this key. And one of the BP lowering supplements in the Healthline article also helps to create this key.

So what is this key ingredient?

It is NITRIC OXIDE!

Number One Key to Lower Blood Pressure – Nitric Oxide

The 1998 Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to 3 American researchers for discovering how the endothelium, which lines all of your vascular system, converts the amino acid L-arginine into Nitric Oxide, the master signaling molecule of your entire cardiovascular system.

Nitric oxide relaxes the smooth muscle of the vascular wall to vasodilate your system, This reduces resistance to blood flow and helps to naturally bring your blood pressure back into the normal range.

Rather than write about this process here is a video that will help you better understand how nitric oxide therapy can naturally address high blood pressure:

My recommendation to you, and anyone you know who has high blood pressure, is to consume foods and supplements designed to create nitric oxide. This “Miracle Molecule” is the number one key to improving your cardiovascular health.

The Power of Nitric Oxide Therapy

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 01/15/2018

A call today from one of my clients reminded me of the power of nitric oxide therapy to address Power of Nitric Oxidecardiovascular health concerns.

My client first contacted me in February of 2013. He had been sent home from the hospital to get his affairs in order since he was given just months to live.

My client had small vessel disease of the heart. His ejection fraction was under 30. He had several blockages and because the arteries of his heart were so small and fragile nothing could be done to help him.

My client found me though my YouTube videos on the power of nitric oxide therapy to help improve the vascular system. He wanted to know if this would help him.

As I shared with him there is no guarantee that I or nitric oxide therapy could help him given his current condition. But since he had no further options for living he decided to apply nitric oxide therapy to see if it would help.

Fast forward to today, which is almost 5 years later. My client’s heart is in better shape today than when he first called me. His been give almost five additional years of life to enjoy his family and friends. And while he has had some heart related challenges over this last 5 years, he has been able to experience further medical procedures that have helped strengthen his heart.

These medical procedures would not have been possible without nitric oxide therapy.

He represents to me the power of nitric oxide therapy. And when properly applied, how it can make a significant difference in a person’s cardiovascular health and function. Read More →

Nitric Oxide Therapy Addresses High Blood Pressure

Nitric Oxide Therapy Addresses High Blood PressureA little over a week ago 31 million Americans were classified as having high blood pressure. Yet no one in the medical community is helping them understand how nitric oxide therapy addresses high blood pressure.

This post contains a link to Our Nitric Oxide Therapy ebook.

This ebook will help you understand how the 1998 Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to 3 American researchers for discovery how the lining of your cardiovascular system (called the endothelium) converts the amino acid L-arginine into nitric oxide.

Nitric oxide has been called the Miracle Molecule for what it can do to help regulate your cardiovascular system for improved blood flow.

With the awarding of the Nobel Prize there was an explosion of research in this area. Currently, there are over 100,000 peer reviewed clinical studies in the area of nitric oxide therapy. Yet even as we end the year 2017 most people have never heard of this natural way to address most cardiovascular health concerns including high blood pressure. Read More →

Arteriosclerosis and Atherosclerosis – Treatment Programs!

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 02/22/2017

According to the American Heart Association, arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis account for Atherosclerosisnearly 75% of all deaths from heart disease! To have a significant impact on reducing the number one killer of people worldwide, it would make sense to focus on treatment programs that address these two issues.

As I gathered data for this article many of the websites I looked at made the following comment – “The exact cause of arteriosclerosis is not known.”

This author would like to disagree with this statement.

The exact cause of arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis is known. It’s damage to the endothelial cells that line all of your cardiovascular system, which reduces their ability to properly produce nitric oxide, the master signaling molecule of the cardiovascular system. Nitric oxide is key to cardiovascular health. According to Dr. Louis J. Ignarro, the 1998 Nobel Laureate in Medicine,

“NO – as it is known by chemists – is produced by the body specifically to help keep arteries and veins free of the plaque that causes stroke and to maintain normal blood pressure by relaxing the arteries, thereby regulating the rate of blood flow and preventing coronaries. Nitric oxide is the body’s natural cardiovascular wonder drug.”

If you look closely at Dr. Ignarro’s statement you will notice the following significant phrase: “. . . specifically to help keep arteries and veins free of the plaque that causes stroke. . .” Plaque formation is at the heart of atherosclerosis. Calcification of these plaque formations lead to arteriosclerosis.
