Our goal is to give you a road for for improving your gut health. One that is fairly easy to follow. We say Gut Health“fairly easy” because we acknowledge that any change can be a challenge.

Hopefully over the last 4 posts on gut health it’s clear that your microbiome is critical to your health. A healthy and diverse microbiome usually leads to better health and wellness. It also improves your ability to manage your weight.

In our Mircobiome Research eBook we talked about addressing the 3 E’s which are:

Prebiotics and Probiotics to Recolonize Your Gut

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 04/15/2017

For most people the combined use of prebiotics and probiotics to recolonize their gut is a new concept or Prebiotics and Probioticsmethod. Yet this combination of prebiotics and probiotics is exactly what is needed.

When you examine the research in this area, you’ll see a heavy emphasis on what are called Probiotics.

Probiotics are good bacteria that will help you recolonize your gut flora with the types of bacteria that promote good health.

You can obtain them from supplements, food, or both.

Fermented foods are best because helpful bacteria are used to ferment or breakdown the food into more easily digested components. The top four foods in this category would be: Read More →

What Does It Mean to Have a Leaky Gut

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 04/07/2017

While the medical community does not recognize a leaky gut as a major contributing factor to all sorts Leaky Gutof health issues, there is a growing body of science showing how a leaky gut, or what is called intestinal permeability, is wreaking havoc on people’s health.

This health concern is not new.

In fact, Hippocrates recognized it when he stated,

“All Disease Begins In The Gut.”

Ideally, your intestine is designed to be a very selective barrier to everything you consume. It does this by creating what are known as “tight junctions.” As you can see in the below image created by Dr. Vincent Pedre for Happy Gut, these tight junctions are loosened so that undigested food particles, toxins, and pathogens can enter your blood stream.

Preventing Toxins Caused By Microbiome Dysbiosis

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 04/01/2017

Microbiome dysbiosis usually produces toxins that result in a leaky gut and inflammation of your Microbiome Dysbiosisintestinal cavity. To prevent these toxins from entering into your blood stream and causing additional health issues we use the term “purify the gut microbiome.”

This means returning this microbial community back to a diverse collection of beneficial bacteria that will protect the intestinal cavity, as well as aid in the proper digestion and elimination of the foods you consume.

There are two basic approaches to eliminating the toxins caused by microbiome dysbiosis:

Using pharmaceutical drugs and antibiotics

OR

Learning how to properly recolonize the gut flora through

the use of natural nutrients, prebiotics, and probiotics.

Why Your Microbiome is Key to Good Health

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 03/22/2017

In 2001 the term Microbiome was coined by a researcher named Joshua Lederberg. The term applies Microbiometo the 100 trillion microbial cells that each person carries on and in their body.

Whether you believe in evolution or Creation there is a symbiotic relationship between these microbial cells and human cells. A symbiotic relationship that either leads to good health or poor health.

In fact when you look in the mirror what you see is your human expression of your human cells. However, if you had the eyes of a powerful microscope you would see a world of microbial cells that outnumbered your human cells by a factor of 10.

Which has lead researchers in the area of the microbiome to use the phrase “We Are Only 10% Human!”

Why is this important?

Because the makeup of your micriobiome significantly, if not entirely, impacts your health and wellness. To the point where every major disease and illness today has a link back to your microbiome.

Did Tom Brady’s Diet Result In Super Bowl Success

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 02/08/2017

How much did Tom Brady’s diet contribute to his, and the New England Patriots, unbelievable comebackTom Brady's Diet win in Super Bowl 51?

Some are saying it was a major factor in helping a 39 year old quarterback, who has been in the league for 17 years, still think and perform like he was in his late 20s.

Here’s what I’ve been able to find on the internet. These are direct statements from his hired chief Allen Campbell:

Highlights of Tom Brady’s Diet

“So 80 percent of what they eat is vegetables. [I buy] the freshest vegetables. If it’s not organic, I don’t use it. And whole grains: brown rice, quinoa, millet, beans. The other 20 percent is lean meats: grass-fed organic steak, duck every now and then, and chicken. As for fish, I mostly cook wild salmon.”

“It’s very different than a traditional American diet. But if you just eat sugar and carbs—which a lot of people do—your body is so acidic, and that causes disease. Tom recently outed Frosted Flakes and Coca-Cola. I love that he did that. Sugar is the death of people.”

What the Heck is The Microbiome

Posted by Dan Hammer //
 09/22/2016

Over the next couple of months I’ll be doing a series of posts on The Microbiome. And the reason why is The Microbiomeemerging science is clearly identifying how significant the microbiome is to your overall health and the prevention of disease.

Here’s a quick definition of the microbiome as state by Katie Johnson:

“The human microbiome is a diverse array of microorganisms that populate the intestinal tract and can include bacteria, parasites, and yeasts.”

Now you might be thinking that this really doesn’t play a significant role in your health. Well consider this fact:

On a cellular level, bacteria outnumber us by a 10 to 1 ratio.
