Sage Extract For Improved Cognitive Function

Sage Extract For Improved Cognitive Function

It’s a long title but this article is going to discuss using sage extract for improved cognitive function. Especially for short-term memory.

As we age one of our concerns is cognitive function. Especially the ability to remember. Not just past events. But recent activities. What would be called “short-term memory.”

There are many factors that can contribute to this decline.

One is poor circulation, which robs the brain of the needed oxygen and blood glucose to operate at peak efficiency.

But another factor are chemical compounds called neurotransmitters. These compounds are used to help your brain cells communicate with each other.

Acetylcholine is a key neurotransmitter. It is critical for memory, attention, and reasoning.

As we age acetylcholine declines. This decline plays a major role in poor memory and your inability to pay attention to tasks.

The pharmaceutical industry has created a drug that boosts your level of acetylcholine by inhibiting an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase. This enzyme degrades your brains level of acetylcholine, which then effects your memory.

Sage extract can inhibit this same enzyme resulting in an increase in acetylcholine levels.

In a 2018 clinical study that used a standardized sage extract, the participants, when compared to the placebo group, had:

  • Nearly a 60% increase in memory performance.

  • An approximate 2.5 fold improvement in attention.

And the improvements were within hours of taking this sage extract.

This interest in a natural way to address cognitive function as spawned additional studies for both younger adults and those with Alzheimer’s disease.

For younger people, the sage extract showed the following improvements within hours: Read More →

The Power of Nitric Oxide Therapy

Posted by Dan Hammer //

A call today from one of my clients reminded me of the power of nitric oxide therapy to address Power of Nitric Oxidecardiovascular health concerns.

My client first contacted me in February of 2013. He had been sent home from the hospital to get his affairs in order since he was given just months to live.

My client had small vessel disease of the heart. His ejection fraction was under 30. He had several blockages and because the arteries of his heart were so small and fragile nothing could be done to help him.

My client found me though my YouTube videos on the power of nitric oxide therapy to help improve the vascular system. He wanted to know if this would help him.

As I shared with him there is no guarantee that I or nitric oxide therapy could help him given his current condition. But since he had no further options for living he decided to apply nitric oxide therapy to see if it would help.

Fast forward to today, which is almost 5 years later. My client’s heart is in better shape today than when he first called me. His been give almost five additional years of life to enjoy his family and friends. And while he has had some heart related challenges over this last 5 years, he has been able to experience further medical procedures that have helped strengthen his heart.

These medical procedures would not have been possible without nitric oxide therapy.

He represents to me the power of nitric oxide therapy. And when properly applied, how it can make a significant difference in a person’s cardiovascular health and function. Read More →

Resetting Your Gut Microbiome With The Mediterranean Diet

I just recently came across an excellent article on The 15 Health Benefits of the Mediterranean Diet by Mediterranean Diet Jen Miller. I’ve listed these 15 health benefits below.

As I was reading her post I kept thinking that the Mediterranean Diet is an excellent way to address the 3 E’s and 4 R’s to Gut Health. How this way of life can:

Eliminate Dysbiosis

Eliminate Inflammation

Eliminate Leaky Gut

while helping you

Remove Foods and Factors That Damage Your Gut

Replace With Healing Foods

Repair With Specific Supplements

Rebalance With Prebiotics and Probiotics

The Mediterranean diet is based on the traditional foods that were consumed by ancient populations in Italy and Greece. Over time this diet has been modified. But its core components have remained the same.

And the resulting health benefits make the Western diet look like a death sentence. Read More →

How Nitric Oxide Addresses Cognitive Function

Posted by Dan Hammer //

Issues with cognitive function are growing in the general population. As I did research on the last post Cognitive Functionregarding a new Alzheimer’s treatment program I came across the following title and article. Since I’m a big believer in the power of nitric oxide therapy to improve cardiovascular health I just had to read it.

The title says it all.

Cognitive function is aided by proper nitric oxide production.

If you would like to read it, then the link to the article is below the title. However, I’ve produced a new video to help you better understand this area.

Involvement of nitric oxide in learning & memory processes

You have two choices in understanding how nitric oxide therapy addresses cognitive function. The video version which you can watch. Or an edited text version of the same information. I’ll let you decide which you prefer.

New Alzheimer’s Treatment Program Shows Promise

Our friends in Australia have released information on a new Alzheimer’s treatment program that showsAlzheimer's Treatment promise. At least in mice. I’ll share the information below but before I do it reminds me of this section from a Scottish poem written by Robert Burns in 1785. Here it it:

But little Mouse, you are not alone,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes of mice and men
Go often askew,
And leave us nothing but grief and pain,
For promised joy!

There have been many attempts to help solve the grief and pain associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Here’s hoping that this new Alzheimer’s treatment does not go askew but actually delivers a real hope to untangle the main cause of Alzheimer’s disease. Here’s the article that caught my attention.

The MIND Diet for Cognitive Protection

Posted by Dan Hammer //

Have you ever heard of the MIND Diet? I hadn’t until I saw this headline:MIND Diet

“New Research Shows MIND Diet Keeps Brains 7.5 Years Younger”

Now who wouldn’t want a diet that would help them keep their brain younger. Well, MIND is short for Mediterranean-DASH Diet Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. Its a hybrid of the Mediterranean diet and the DASH eating plan designed to control blood pressure. It was developed by the nutritional epidemiologists at Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center.

Before I share with you the results of their study, here is a brief summary of the MIND diet:
